Seán Keane from County Galway is decribed as the `greatest musical find of the 90`s` by `The London Independent`. Traditional Irish, folk and even country and blues songs all lend themselves to his unique style and unforgettable voice. Growing up in a family of singers and musicians, Seán learned the sean-nós style of singing from his mother and his aunts. Singing was his life, even in early childhood; by the time Seán reached his teens, he had collected thirteen All-Ireland medals in Fleadh Ceoil competitions. He was by then an accomplished whistle and flute player as well and had taken up the uilleann pipes and bowrawn.
When he joined his first group, `Shegui`, he had already served a long apprenticeship; after travelling throughout Europe with the band, he left to join `Reel Union`, a group which also featured sister Dolores and accordion player Máirtín O`Connor. Later, he was part of `Arcady`, with such well known names as Johnny `Ringo` McDonagh, Sharon Shannon and Frances Black. After a short flirtation with the theatre when he played in the Druid production of the `Midnight Court` and the Abbey Theatre`s `Sheep`s Milk on the Boil`, Seán embarked on his solo career in 1993. `All Heart , No Roses` received rave reviews and was chosen as `Debut Folk Album of the Year` by Q Magazine. In the years following, success continued with Meteor Award nominations, `Best Male Folk Performer` from Irish Music Magazine (three times) ,a similar award from the London `Irish World`,as well as numerous Irish accolades. `A Portrait`, a collection of Seán`s songs, is a multi-platinum Irish seller. All of his solo albums are platinum sellers and remain in constant demand.
Six solo albums later, Seán Keane continues to delight audiences all over the world with his live performances and recorded work. He tours regularly with his band in Ireland, Austria, Germany, the US and Canada as well as appearing at major festivals world-wide.

SEÁN KEANE wächst in der "living tradition" irischer Musik auf, wo die Musik von Kindesbeinen an zum Alltag gehört, wie die tägliche Tasse Tee. – Er stammt aus Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, im Westen Irlands, wo er beginnt, sich bei den "All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil competitions" einen Namen zu machen. Er gewinnt als Sänger 13 Titel innerhalb von ebenso vielen Jahren.
Vor seiner 1994 beginnenden Solo-Karriere spielt er in einer Reihe von Bands, u.a. mit REEL UNION, SHEGUI und ARCADY, mit denen er auf Tournee geht. Auch wirkt er am Theater bei Brian Merriman's "The Midnight Court" in einer musikalischen Bearbeitung von Druid sowie bei der Abbey-Produktion von Tom McIntyre's "Sheep's Milk On The Boil" mit.
Seine erste Solo-CD "All Heart, No Roses" wird vom Q-MAGAZINE zum "Debut Album Of The Year" in der Roots-Sparte auserwählt und findet sowohl in den Medien als auch beim Publikum großen Anklang. Im April 1996 wird "Turn A Phrase" veröffentlicht. Mit dieser CD kann SEÁN KEANE seine Position als einer der führenden Sänger Irlands weiter festigen. "No Stranger" erscheint im Juli 1998 in Irland auf dem GRAPEVINE-Label und erfährt eine derart große Beachtung seitens der Medien, dass sich das Album über fünf Wochen in den Top 20 halten kann und aufgrund hoher Verkaufszahlen in Irland mit "Platin" ausgezeichnet wird. Die CD wird von JIM ROONEY sowohl in Galway als auch in Nashville (USA) produziert, wobei irische und amerikanische Musiker an den Aufnahmen beteiligt sind.
Inzwischen hat der irische Sänger weitere sechs hochkarätige Alben – "The Man That I Am", "Seánsongs", "Valley Of The Heart", "A Portrait 1", "A Portrait 2" und jüngst "You Got Gold" - veröffentlicht und sich, insbesondere auch in Deutschland, eine beachtliche, ständig wachsende Fangemeinde erobert.
Die Lieder von SEÁN KEANE lassen sich schwer einordnen. Sein Markenzeichen sind die unverwechselbare Stimme und seine ganz eigene, äußerst sympathische Vortragsweise. Von der traditionellen irischen Musik kommend, umfasst sein Repertoire alte und neue, traditionelle und "contemporary" Songs.
SEÁN KEANE ist mit seiner Band regelmäßig in ganz Europa auf Tournee und Gast bei den wichtigsten europäischen Festivals. Er zählt zu den populärsten Künstlern Irlands. GEORGE MICHAEL sagte in einem Interview für den Fernsehsender VIVA: "Vergesst alle Musiker aus Irland inklusive The Corrs – ich habe letzte Woche Seán Keane live gehört: Er ist der Beste!"
